Salem voters, soon you’ll be getting your ballot for the November 3 election. Two city council races remain to be decided.

If you live in Ward 6, be sure to write-in Mai Vang to be your councilor.

If you live in Ward 8, be sure to vote for Micki Varney to be your councilor.

Mai Vang is the incumbent Ward 6 councilor (East Salem). She’s done a great job representing her ward. Vang’s web site explains why it is necessary to write-in her name on the ballot.

I’m launching my write-in campaign for the November general election to retain my seat as East Salem’s City Councilor.

In the 2026 May primary election, I lost by only 44 votes.

Since May, reporters have discovered my opponent has no roots, and lived much of the past year outside of the ward. East Salem has been seriously misled. Betsy Vega hid important information from voters, including you.

You deserve a fair chance, with all the information to decide who represents you at City Hall this November.

This fall, I’m asking you to write my name in.

If you’d like to know more about my accomplishments as your councilor and my priorities for our future, please explore these links. I hope to earn your continued support.

On November 3, write in MAI VANG for Ward 6 City Councilor.

Micki Varney is the incumbent Ward 8 councilor (West Salem). She’s also been an excellent councilor. Varney’s web site says:

Anyone can talk about making a difference, but in our often-overlooked part of the city, Micki does more than talk.

As a mom who raised a family while working multiple jobs, a union steward for over 15 years, and an environmental scientist, Micki is not afraid to take bold action and stand up for her community.

As a leader in Salem, she prioritizes transparency and community involvement to ensure that constituents’ voices are heard where decisions are being made. From attending our West Salem Neighborhood Association meetings, to frequenting the Thursday market on Edgewater, to volunteering in our parks, Micki shows up for our community and prioritizes being accessible to those she represents.
