Vote for Oregon Democrats, because the Republican Party is Trump’s party

Today Trump refused to commit to a peaceful transfer of all power after the election. Instead, Trump said that he wanted to get rid of mail in ballots. If that happens, Trump added, there will be a continuation of his presidency.

Well, yeah. If you get rid of mail in ballots, and most Democrats plan to vote that way because of the COVID-19 crisis, then Trump steals the election. Which is exactly what an authoritarian would try to do.

That’s just one of many reasons why I say…

Vote for Democrats croppedI want to be clear that it’s important for people in the Salem area to also vote for Democrats in the national presidential race. But almost certainly Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will win Oregon’s electoral votes.

That’s why my emphasis is on voting for Democrats in local and Oregon statewide races. Republican elected officials, along with Republican candidates, are extremely reluctant to stand up against Trump’s authoritarianism.

That disqualifies them from being taken seriously by voters who believe in democracy and fair elections.

I may add more Democrat names to this web page. For now, here are the Democrats who I especially urge a vote for on in the November election. Click on the name to visit the candidate’s web site.

Ashley Carson Cottingham, Marion County Commissioner
Deb Patterson, Senate District 10
Jackie Leung, House District 19

Shemia Fagan, Oregon Secretary of State
